Unmoored

This project is a meditation on longing and desire. For several months, I took a handheld digital scanner with me everywhere I went, and scanned the bodies of men that I was drawn to. Some were acquaintances, but most were complete strangers. Throughout the work, there is a false sense of intimacy and closeness. The performance of running a scanner over someone's body is an intimate act, but physical contact between myself and the men is mediated by the scanner itself, acting as a barrier to touch. The text is a piece of prose about my relationship with desire.
